Don’t miss the first webinar of the season on August 29th!
Join us for an informative look at the newly updated Geography Standards! GFL2 or Geography for Life: National Geography Standards, Second Edition has finally arrived! This presentation will highlight the changes that are featured in the second edition of the national standards and provide an overview of the new edition. A new colorful 3-column layout allows teachers to see content in all three grade bands at one time.
The organization of this second edition focuses on Doing Geography. There are three new classroom vignettes that describe examples of doing geography at each of the three grade bands in the standards to help teachers as they envision doing geography in their own classrooms. By organizing the geographic perspectives, content knowledge, and skills sections together in Part II of the document, the document provides examples of how to engage students in doing geography and developing useful geographic practices. An expanded glossary is a valuable resource in building geography vocabulary for K-12 students.
The presentation will also include an opportunity for questions and answers as well as helpful discussions about the many ways to use this updated resource in support of existing state and district level standards. It’s the perfect way to start your school year with the newest tools in your tool belt!
