Oct 15, 2012 by

This is a pivotal year for GIS educators. The functionality of ArcGIS Online continues to expand at a rapid pace offering ever-increasing opportunities for  educational use. With ArcGIS Online you can now publish and share data,maps and applications; map field data collaboratively; create a map gallery; and much much more. GIS Educators Day will offer these hands-on workshops on ArcGIS Online:

* Introduction to Web Mapping
* ArcGIS Online: Personal vs. Organization Accounts
* Adding GPS Data to ArcGIS Online
* Publishing Content to ArcGIS Online

Oral presentations and panels will offer a range of additional topics of  interest to educators from all disciplines, at levels from public elementary school through state departments of education to elite colleges, plus after-school programs, parks, museums, and libraries. You can see a preliminary conference schedule on our web page at http://www.northeastarc.org/2012/html/giseducators.shtml

GIS Educators Day 2012 represents a tremendously valuable opportunity for you to sharpen your professional skills and to network with other educators. Our lunch speaker, Dr. Matthew Bampton from the University of Southern Maine is widely
known in Maine’s GIS community and has many insights to offer other educators based on his work with GIS over the years.
The main NEARC Conference will run from November 12-14 just down the road at the Samoset Resort in Rockland, Maine. If you are interested in a special two-day registration for Sunday and Monday, you can learn the details by contacting victoria@delaneymeetingevent.com
