GIS Educators Day (November 11)

at the 27th Annual NEARC Conference

Sunday, November 11 – Wednesday, November 14

Samoset Resort, Rockland, Maine

GIS Educators Day, sponsored by NEARC, Esri, and the New England Geography Education Network, is a full-day conference devoted exclusively to topics and issues pertaining to the use of GIS and other geospatial technologies in K-12, college, and informal education. GIS Educators Day will be held Sunday, November 11 in connection with the annual NEARC Conference.

This year we are pleased to combine our event with the annual Conference of GIS Educators from Maine. We look forward to the expanded professional opportunities that this collaboration makes possible.

GIS Educators Day is a one day pre-conference to NEARC’s annual professional user conference which will run from November 11 – 14 at the nearby Samoset Resort. GIS Educators Day will feature a lunchtime keynote by Dr. Matthew Bampton (University of Southern Maine), hands-on computer labs, oral presentations, panel discussions, and posters, exploring a range of resources, projects, and topics. The day will also include a student map competition.

GIS Educators Day addresses the number one goal of GIS conference goers…the opportunity to network with other educational professionals who share your interest in geospatial technologies. Whether you’re a K-12 or college educator, an experienced GIS user or a newcomer who wants to learn about the educational possibilities of this powerful tool, you’ll want to put this outstanding regional event on your “Must Do” list for 2012.
